Our members are competing to win the first ever catering
award, which will be presented at our annual conference next January (2014).
The new award, which is sponsored by the International Food
Service Equipment Ltd (Ifse), will be presented to the garden centres with the
highest scoring catering operation from the annual inspections.
Peter Burks, Chairman of the GCA, explained: “With
restaurants, cafés and coffee shops representing a significant investment and
increasing element of garden centres’
business turnover we think it’s really important to have an award to recognise
excellence in this area.
“Our annual inspections are currently underway and the
garden centres that score highest in this area will be presented with this
prestigious award, known as the Best Garden Centre Restaurant – The Ifse Award
for Catering Excellence. The award will be presented to one garden centre in
the Destination Garden Centre category and one in the Garden Centre Category.
“We know that our members’ catering operations are fantastic
so it is sure to be a really close competition. We wish everyone the best of
luck and are looking forward to finding out who came top at our conference,
which takes place from January 26 until 29, 2014. The venue is to be announced.”
More
than 300 delegates from the nation’s leading garden centres, including
independents and chains, are expected to attend the annual GCA Conference.
Peter added: “We’d like to thank new GCA associate members
Ifse for sponsoring the award.
“If any other companies are interested in sponsoring any of
our annual awards, please get in touch as we still have opportunities
available.
“People should contact Iain Wylie, GCA Interim Chief
Executive via Iain@GCA.org.uk to find out more.”
Ifse provides restaurant and café fitouts in garden centres,
as well as in high street stores, shopping centres, railway stations and
airports.
